Project Brief
ILS Institutional Design Details and Philosophy: ILS Howrah is a 120-bed state of the art hospital located in the heart of Howrah providing a huge catchment of health care services for the district of sub-urban West Bengal.
The layering of the program allowed for a public zone with OPD and diagnostic functions with Operation Theatre, IPD etc. located on the upper floors. The façade and architectural character evolved from the program and function of the project.
Here, service planning and façade fenestrations were developed keeping proportions and utility in mind. Architecturally, the project creates a base using gray stucco, louvers and bright daylight in OPD and public areas, with a linear modernist façade to create breaks in proportion.
