Gloster Limited VIP Guest House

Project Brief

Architectural Design details and philosophy: Situated in the Gloster mill complex, along the banks of the river Hoogly, the 150 year old colonial bungalow, which was previously used as the GM’s residence, was required to be converted into a boutique VIP guesthouse. The principal idea was to partly restore and partly renovate the structure, keeping its colonial character intact. The design language used for the interiors is an amalgamation of British colonial architecture, Art Deco and European country manor styles. The interiors resonate with the lavish décor previously found in rajbaris of Bengali zamindars, by using materials such as teak wood, iron railings, marble flooring and antique lighting fixtures.
